Capture an atmosphere

Music Photography is all about capturing that atmosphere at a live gig - the lights, the crowd, the act on stage! Getting in there and getting what you need in the short time you get in the pit. Or with tour photography getting to know the set and knowing where to be at what point to get the best shots

I started shooting gigs back in 2000 on Kodak film. Since those glamorous days in the sweaty Front Page in Belfast I’ve moved on to shooting all sorts of acts. I’ve been lucky enough to cover festivals like Electric Picnic, SXSW Texas, Rock Werchter, Download, Oxegen, Belsonic and Bilbao BBK. I’ve met some of my favourite musicians and shot them on and off stage and it never grows old. Those moments standing in the pit before the gig starts, feeling the energy and the anticipation build up to a frenzy! What’s not to love about it (bar the tinnitus!!)

With strict timings, a busy pit, a crazy crowd and ever changing lights you need a photographer who can get the job done right, quickly and in a constantly changing environment. With almost 20 years experience shooting gigs (I’m not that old cheeky!! I started young!) from the sweatiest punk gigs in tiny venues, to the glossiest pop stars in arenas - there is no gig too bit, too small or too loud!
